Biography
Koji Tatsuno is a Japanese fashion designer and costume designer. Born on 12 March 1964, he moved from Japan to London in 1980 and became self-taught in fashion. He co-founded the label Culture Shock in 1983 and later established his own Koji Tatsuno label (1990–1994), showing collections in Paris.
Tatsuno designed costumes for film, opera and ballet. His work includes the 1996 Peter Greenaway film The Pillow Book, for which he created pieces alongside Dien van Straalen and Martin Margiela. He has also designed prêt-à-porter lines, including for Grès in 2003. Early in his studio, he employed emerging designers including Alexander McQueen.
