Biography
Kotaro Tomita, also credited as 冨田浩太郎, was a Japanese actor born on 20 January 1925 in Tamana, Kumamoto Prefecture. He graduated from Miyazaki University’s Faculty of Agriculture and worked as a high-school teacher before moving to Tokyo in 1950 to pursue acting. He trained at the Shinkyo Gekidan acting institute, joined Gekidan Mingei, and made his film debut in 1952.
Tomita appeared in numerous films and television dramas, often in supporting roles. He is known for playing the Lead Seatopian Agent in Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973), Professor Ôta in Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975), and a villager in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964). His stage and screen work included productions with Toho and appearances in series such as Ultraman. He also taught acting at theatre institutes and universities, and received an Art Festival Encouragement Award. Tomita died on 10 June 2004 in Tokyo.
