Biography
Kurt Wagner (1953–2023) was a German actor and screenwriter. Born in Saarlouis, Saarland, he led his own amateur theatre group and had earlier experience in film and television before his breakthrough.
He became known for playing Glasisch Karl in Edgar Reitz’s Heimat – Eine deutsche Chronik (1984), a role originally intended as minor but expanded to appear in all eleven episodes. He reprised the character in one episode of the sequel Die zweite Heimat – Chronik einer Jugend (1992). Wagner appeared in three episodes of the crime series Tatort between 1990 and 2016, contributed a screenplay to the children’s series Nußknacker – Ein Fall für Drei, and worked as a radio presenter and advertising agency owner.
