Biography
Ladislaus Vajda (also credited as László Vajda) was a Hungarian screenwriter. Born Lipót Weisz on 18 August 1877 in Eger, Austria-Hungary (now Hungary), he died on 10 March 1933 in Berlin, Germany.
He began his career in Hungary as an actor, journalist and theatre director before turning to screenwriting around 1916. Vajda contributed to some 40 films made in Hungary, Austria and Germany up to 1932, often adapting literary works.
He is known for his screenplays for G. W. Pabst films including Pandora's Box (1929), Westfront 1918 (1930), Comradeship (1931) and The Threepenny Opera (1931). He was the father of film director Ladislao Vajda.
