Biography
Lau Siu-ming (also credited as Siu Ming Lau or Liu Zhao-ming) was a Hong Kong actor and dancer. Born on 13 October 1931 in Hong Kong, he trained in dance in Europe in the 1960s before returning to work in dance education and choreography. He began acting in 1979 with a role in The Butterfly Murders and appeared in numerous films and television series, often with TVB.
He is known for his performance as the Tree Demon in A Chinese Ghost Story (1987) and its sequels A Chinese Ghost Story II (1990) and A Chinese Ghost Story III (1991), as well as roles in The Legend of Drunken Master (1994), Swordsman (1990) and Re-cycle (2006). In 2006 he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Awards for Re-cycle. He died on 2 September 2026, aged 94.
