Biography
Lise Delamare was a French stage and film actress. Born Jolyse Effrey Jeanne Delamare on 9 April 1913 in Colombes, she trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and made her stage debut in 1933. She joined the Comédie-Française, becoming a sociétaire in 1951 and later an honorary member.
She appeared in numerous films from the 1930s onwards, often in historical or literary adaptations. Her credits include La Marseillaise (1938) as Queen Marie-Antoinette, Monsieur Vincent (1947), Lola Montès (1955) as Mrs Craigie, Lola's mother, The Grand Manoeuvre (1955), Captain Blood (1960) as Marie de Médicis, and Baxter (1989) as Madame Deville. She also worked extensively in television until the early 1990s.
Delamare was married to actor Tony Taffin from 1946 until their divorce in 1953. Her sister, Rosine Delamare, was a costume designer. She died on 25 July 2006 in Suresnes, France.
