Biography
Lo Lieh, also credited as Lieh Lo, Wong Lap-Dat, Lit Law and Joe Lee, was an Indonesian-born Hong Kong actor, martial artist and filmmaker. Born Wang Lap Tat on 29 June 1939 in Pematangsiantar (then in the Dutch East Indies), he moved to Hong Kong in his teens, attended acting school and joined the Shaw Brothers Studio in 1962.
He appeared in more than 100 films, frequently in villainous roles, and is known for parts including Chao Chih-Hao in Five Fingers of Death (1972), Priest Bai Mei in Executioners from Shaolin (1977) and General Tien Ta in The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978). He also directed films and worked in Hong Kong television until the late 1990s. He died on 2 November 2002 in Shenzhen, China.
