Biography
Lodewijk de Boer (1937–2004) was a Dutch composer, actor, writer and theatre director. Born in Amsterdam, he studied viola at the Conservatorium Amsterdam and played with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from 1961. He later worked as a freelance musician, improviser and composer for film and theatre.
De Boer composed the score for Marleen Gorris’s A Question of Silence (1982) and contributed music to other films including Broken Mirrors (1984). As an actor he appeared in shorts and features such as Contact (1974) and Polleke (2003). His theatre work included the play The Family (filmed in 1973) and libretti for operas by Peter Schat and Theo Loevendie.
