Biography
Loek Dikker (born 28 February 1944) is a Dutch composer, pianist and conductor. After classical piano training he turned to jazz following a 1959 televised performance by Horace Silver and Sonny Rollins. He performed with musicians including Hans Dulfer, Theo Loevendie, Oliver Nelson, Cannonball Adderley and Don Byas, and in the mid-1970s founded the Waterland Ensemble.
Dikker wrote his first film score in 1981 and has since composed for more than sixty films. He is known for his work on The Fourth Man (1983), Body Parts (1991), The Babysitter (1995) and Rosenstrasse (2003). He received the Silver Desk for best Dutch film music for The Fourth Man in 1983 and the Golden Calf in 1990 for his body of work. Dikker founded and chairs Muziekinstituut MultiMedia and is a board member of the Federation of Film and Audiovisual Composers of Europe. His sister Marianne Dikker is a screenwriter and director.
