Biography
Lorenz Dangel is a German composer of film, classical and theatre music. Born in Würzburg in 1977, he studied double bass and composition at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, followed by film composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and further studies at the Royal College of Music in London, from which he graduated with distinction in 2004. He has lived and worked in Berlin since 2005.
Dangel is known for his scores to films including Hell (2011), A Fortunate Man (2018), The Colony (2021), Dying (2024) and September 5 (2024). He has also worked as a conductor on numerous film recordings. His awards include the Max Ophüls Prize for best music for Schläfer (2006) and the German Film Prize for the music of Hell (2012), Tides (2021) and Dying (2024). He received a nomination for the German Film Prize for his work on September 5.
