Biography
Lou Castel is a Colombian-Swedish actor. Born Ulv Quarzell on 28 May 1943 in Bogotá, Colombia, he moved to Europe as a child and later settled in Rome.
He made his screen debut in an uncredited role in The Leopard (1963) and gained prominence with his leading performance in Marco Bellocchio's Fists in the Pocket (1965). Castel appeared in several Italian films of the 1960s and 1970s, including spaghetti westerns such as A Bullet for the General (1967), as well as The Cassandra Crossing (1976) and The American Friend (1977).
Later credits include Irma Vep (1996), I Feel Good (2018) and Paris Is Us (2019). He has also worked in French and German productions and is noted for his political activism in the 1970s.
