Biography
Louis Chavance (1907–1979) was a French screenwriter who also worked as a film editor and assistant director. He began in the industry in the early 1930s as an assistant director and editor on several films.
He edited Jean Vigo's L'Atalante (1934) after principal photography. His best-known work is the original screenplay for Le Corbeau (1943), written in 1933 and later adapted with Henri-Georges Clouzot. He contributed screenplays, adaptations and dialogue to numerous other French films through the 1950s, including La Marie du Port (1950) and The Light Across the Street (1955).
