Biography
Louis Seigner (23 June 1903 – 20 January 1991) was a French actor. He was born in Saint-Chef, Isère, and trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris. He joined the Comédie-Française in 1939 and became a sociétaire in 1943, appearing in numerous stage productions including many performances of Molière works.
Seigner appeared in over 150 films between the 1930s and 1980s. His screen credits include Le Corbeau (1943), Le Plaisir (1952), The Truth (1960), L'Eclisse (1962) as Ercoli, This Special Friendship (1964), Pasha (1968), Mr. Klein (1976) and Les Misérables (1982). He was the father of actress Françoise Seigner and grandfather of actresses Emmanuelle Seigner and Mathilde Seigner.
