Louisa Levy’s Off Campus is a warm, good-natured romance with housemates worth spending time with. We like her feel for an ensemble, but eight leisurely episodes suggest a writer who needs to be more willing to cut.

A hockey captain, a music student and a shared house full of empty bottles give Louisa Levy familiar material for Off Campus (2026). The fake-dating romance is pleasantly handled, but we would recommend it only to viewers already fond of the genre. The leads are likeable; the housemates are better company still. We warmed to that household because Levy makes room for the friendships alongside the central romance. It is a modest reason to keep watching, but a sound one.
That series is her first as creator, following staff writing on Doubt (2017) and writing and producing work on Stumptown (2020). Credits on The Flight Attendant (2022) and Death and Other Details (2024) came before the move into college romance. These are collaborative programmes, and a writing credit alone cannot tell us which decisions were hers. Off Campus, made with co-showrunner Gina Fattore, gives us firmer grounds for a view.
Elle Kennedy, whose novels supply the story, is also among the producers. The adaptation stays close to its source and is unhurried about it, which accounts for some of its charm and some of its slackness. Levy also works closely with intimacy coordinators, with the stated aim of making intimate scenes advance character. That fits a series whose sweetness is more persuasive than its steaminess, even if it does not solve the problem of keeping the story moving.
The reservation is substantial: eight episodes would have been six with a stricter edit. Levy makes spending time in the house agreeable, but the story takes longer than its pleasures justify. We would like to see that warmth survive a less indulgent approach to adapting the books. For now, try Off Campus if college romance appeals, and allow for more waiting around than the setup needs.
Biography
Louisa Levy is a television writer and producer. She is the creator and co-showrunner of the Prime Video series Off Campus (2026), for which she also wrote teleplays.
Her earlier credits as a writer include episodes of The Flight Attendant (2022), Death and Other Details (2024), Stumptown (2020), In the Dark (2019), Life Sentence (2018) and Doubt (2017). She has also served as a producer on several of these series.
Levy studied theatre directing at Columbia University and participated in a devised theatre programme in Johannesburg, South Africa.
