Biography
Lynn Loring was an American actress and television producer. Born Lynn Zimring in New York City, she began her career as a child performer, appearing from the age of seven as Patti Barron on the CBS soap opera Search for Tomorrow for a decade. She went on to guest roles in series including Bonanza, Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, The Wild Wild West, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Invaders and The Big Valley, and appeared in films such as Splendor in the Grass (1961) and Doppelgänger (1969).
Loring left acting in the mid-1970s. She returned to the industry in production, working first as a casting director and then as a producer at Aaron Spelling Productions on telefilms and the feature Mr. Mom (1983). She later became a development executive at MGM/UA Television and was named president of MGM/UA Television Productions in 1989, one of the highest-ranking women in Hollywood at the time. She suggested developing the film In the Heat of the Night as a television series starring Carroll O’Connor.
Loring was married to actor Roy Thinnes from 1967 to 1984. She died on 23 December 2023.
