Biography
Maïlys Vallade is a French animation director and screenwriter. She studied graphic arts at EPSAA in Paris and animation film direction at Gobelins, where she made several award-winning student shorts, including The Lighthouse Keeper (2009).
Vallade has worked on numerous animated features since 2010, contributing as a storyboard artist, animator and in visual development on titles such as Ernest & Célestine (2012), The Little Prince (2015), Long Way North (2015), The Swallows of Kabul (2019), I Lost My Body (2019) and Calamity (2020). Her debut feature, co-directed and co-written with Liane-Cho Han, is the 2025 adaptation Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, based on Amélie Nothomb’s novel. The film premiered at Cannes and received nominations including for the Camera d’Or.
