Biography
Manel Barceló i Serrano (born 19 January 1953) is a Catalan actor, playwright and screenwriter. He trained in theatre in Barcelona and has worked across genres including comedy, drama, cabaret, musicals and monologues.
His one-man shows brought recognition, notably Shylock (awards in 2000 and 2002) and La Tigressa i altres històries, which he performed for 25 years in Catalan and Spanish. He co-founded the children's theatre company Pa de Ral in 1978.
On screen, he played the Doctor in Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008). Television roles include Quima in Merlí (2016–2018), Vicenç in Com si fos ahir (2017–2024) and Galiana in El cor de la ciutat (2005–2009). Film credits also include The Communion Girl (2022) as Padre Manuel and Sis nits d'agost (2022) as Lluís Maria Xirinacs.
