Biography
Marcel Lévesque (6 December 1877 – 16 February 1962) was a French actor and screenwriter. Born Joseph Marcel Lévesque in Paris, he appeared in over a hundred films across a career spanning more than forty years.
He is best known for his work in the silent serials of Louis Feuillade, including the role of Oscar Mazamette in Les Vampires (1915–1916) and the detective Cocantin in Judex (1916). He later played the concierge in Jean Renoir’s Le Crime de Monsieur Lange (1936). Lévesque began in vaudeville and café-concert before moving to film, and continued working in sound pictures into the 1950s.
