Biography
Marcel Maupi, born Marcel Louis Alexandre Barberin, was a French actor. He began his career in music-hall theatres in the Toulon region at the start of the twentieth century, performing alongside Raimu.
Maupi appeared in nearly one hundred films, often in supporting roles as eccentric or everyday Provençal characters. He worked frequently with director Marcel Pagnol, playing Innocent Mangiapan in Fanny (1932) and César (1936), and Barnabé in The Baker's Wife (1938). Other credits include The Well-Digger's Daughter (1940) and La Belle Équipe (1936).
He died in Antibes in 1949.
