Biography
Marcello Mazzarella is an Italian actor born on 18 October 1963 in Erice, Sicily. He has appeared in more than sixty films since his screen debut in 1990.
He trained in theatre in Sicily and Milan, studying with Francesca De Sapio and Michael Margotta, among others. Mazzarella gained international recognition for playing the title role of Marcel Proust in Raúl Ruiz’s Time Regained (1999). Other notable credits include the title role in Placido Rizzotto (2000), a part in Giuseppe Tornatore’s Baaria (2009), for which he received a David di Donatello nomination, and roles in My Name Is Vendetta (2022) and A Breath of Fresh Air (2022).
