Biography
Marco Pennette is an American television writer and producer. Born on 9 July 1966 in Greenwich, Connecticut, he studied at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he was a finalist in the Young Playwrights Festival. He began in theatre, interning for Harold Prince, before selling a script to the sitcom Kate & Allie and relocating to Los Angeles in 1989.
Pennette has written for and produced numerous series. His credits include creating and executive producing Caroline in the City (1995–1999) and writing episodes of What I Like About You (2002), Ugly Betty (2006–2007) and Samantha Who? (2008–2009). He wrote for Desperate Housewives (2009–2012) and served as co-executive producer and later showrunner. He also contributed teleplays and stories to Mom (2014–2020) and created B Positive (2020–2022).
Pennette has received Writers Guild of America and other awards for his television work. He later returned to theatre, writing the book for the Broadway musical Death Becomes Her (2024), which earned a Tony Award nomination.
