Biography
Marcos Prado is a Brazilian producer, director and photographer. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1961, he co-founded the production company Zazen Produções with José Padilha in 1997. He produced the documentary Bus 174 (2002) and the feature films Tropa de Elite (2007) and Tropa de Elite 2: O Inimigo Agora é Outro (2010).
As a director, Prado made his feature debut with the documentary Estamira (2004), which won awards including best documentary at the Festival do Rio and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. He later directed Artificial Paradises (2012) and episodes of the Netflix series The Mechanism (2018). Earlier in his career he worked as a photographer, receiving the World Press Photo award in 1992 and the UN Focus on Your World award the same year.
