Biography
Mario Passante (1912–1974) was an Italian character actor born in Naples. He began his career in revue and Neapolitan dialect theatre before making his screen debut in the early 1950s.
He appeared in numerous Italian films, often in supporting roles. His credits include La Strada (1954), The Gold of Naples (1954), The Swindle (1955), Nights of Cabiria (1957) as the uncle of Amleto, The Widower (1959), The Traffic Policeman (1960) and Boccaccio '70 (1962).
Passante worked with directors including Federico Fellini, Vittorio De Sica and Dino Risi, and actors such as Totò and Alberto Sordi. His final film appearance was in Giorno caldo al Paradiso show (1966).
