Biography
Mark Hellinger (1903–1947) was an American journalist, theatre columnist and film producer. Born in New York City, he began his career as a reporter and Broadway columnist for newspapers including the New York Daily News and New York Daily Mirror before moving to Hollywood in the late 1930s.
He worked first as a writer and associate producer at Warner Bros., contributing to films such as The Roaring Twenties (1939) and High Sierra (1941). Hellinger later became an independent producer at Universal, where his credits included The Killers (1946), Brute Force (1947) and The Naked City (1948). He received an Edgar Award for The Killers.
