Biography
Mark Richard is an American writer, screenwriter and producer. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 1955, he grew up in Texas and Virginia and attended Washington and Lee University. His early work includes the short-story collections The Ice at the Bottom of the World (1989) and Charity (1998), the novel Fishboy (1993), and the memoir House of Prayer No. 2 (2010).
Richard has written for and produced several television series, including Hell on Wheels (2011), The Man in the High Castle (2015), Fear the Walking Dead (2015), NOS4A2 (2019) and The Sympathizer (2024). He co-created and served as showrunner on the 2020 miniseries The Good Lord Bird. In film, he co-wrote the screenplay for Stop-Loss (2008).
