Biography

Marlon James is a Jamaican novelist and screenwriter. Born in Kingston, he is the author of several novels, including the 2014 Booker Prize winner A Brief History of Seven Killings.

In 2024 he created and wrote his first television series, the crime drama Get Millie Black, which aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom and HBO in the United States. The five-episode limited series stars Tamara Lawrance and draws on James’s family background, with the central character partly inspired by his mother, a pioneering detective.
