Biography
Martha Vickers, born Martha MacVicar, was an American actress and model. She made her screen debut in uncredited roles, including in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) and The Mummy's Ghost (1944), initially credited under her birth name.
Vickers achieved her breakthrough as Carmen Sternwood in The Big Sleep (1946). Subsequent film roles included The Man I Love (1946), Ruthless (1948) and The Burglar (1957). She also appeared in television, notably as Sheila Hayes in Perry Mason (1957).
Born on 28 May 1925 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she died on 2 November 1971 in Los Angeles, California.
