Biography

Masayoshi Sukita is a Japanese photographer, cinematographer and director. He was born on 5 May 1938 in Nōgata-shi.

Sukita served as cinematographer on Hirokazu Kore-eda’s After Life (1998), sharing the role with Yutaka Yamazaki. He also worked as still photographer on Jim Jarmusch’s Mystery Train (1989) and as cinematographer on Throw Away Your Books, Rally in the Streets (1971).

As a director he is credited on the video Gakidama (1985) and a segment of Suki (2000). He is widely known for his long-term photographic work with musicians including David Bowie.
