Biography
Matt Dennis was an American singer, pianist, composer and songwriter. Born in Seattle, Washington, he performed with big bands including Horace Heidt's orchestra and later worked as an arranger and composer for Tommy Dorsey, writing standards such as "Everything Happens to Me" and "Let's Get Away from It All" that were recorded by Frank Sinatra.
He appeared as himself, singing, in the 1953 films The Bigamist and Jennifer, the latter introducing his composition "Angel Eyes". Dennis also performed on television and in nightclubs. He died in 2002.
