Biography
Matt Pexa is an American director and assistant director. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he began directing and writing projects including work for the Cleveland Playhouse and music videos. He won a financial grant for his short story "A Sound For The Lonely" and was a published writer with the National Library of Poetry.
Pexa completed a bachelor's degree in film at Bowling Green State University and was selected for the University of Southern California's Masters Film Program. He trained through the Directors Guild of America programme and joined the DGA. His assistant director credits include This Is Us (2016), Hollywood Homicide (2003) and multiple episodes of Abbott Elementary (2021–). He has directed two episodes of Abbott Elementary (2025).
