Biography
Matthew S. Nelson is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for co-composing the score for the television series The Chosen (2019–) with Dan Haseltine.
Nelson holds a Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State University and an Associate of Arts from Pensacola Junior College. He has worked as a session and touring musician with artists including JD Souther, Anderson East, Michael W. Smith, Hooray for the Riff Raff, Amy Grant, Sleeping at Last, Steven Curtis Chapman and Cheap Trick. He has also appeared on television programmes such as NBC's Today, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and NPR's Mountain Stage.
His other film and television credits include The Shift (2023) and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (2024), both co-composed with Haseltine.
