Biography
Matthew S. Nelson is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. He co-composed the score for the television series The Chosen (2019–) with Dan Haseltine.
Nelson holds a Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State University, where he studied cello and jazz guitar, and an Associate of Arts from Pensacola Junior College. He has worked as a touring and session musician with artists including Jars of Clay, Amy Grant, RaeLynn and Cheap Trick, and has appeared on television programmes such as NBC's Today and NPR's Mountain Stage. He is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
His other film and television credits as composer include The Shift (2023) and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (2024), both co-composed with Haseltine.
