Biography
Matthew Zinman is a television writer and producer. He grew up in East Meadow, New York, and attended Quinnipiac University. He began his career in production roles, working as a production assistant on series including CSI: Miami, Still Standing and The Loop.
Zinman joined How I Met Your Mother (2005) in its third season as a showrunner’s assistant and was later promoted to staff writer alongside frequent collaborator Craig Gerard. He contributed as a writer, story editor and executive story editor across multiple seasons, and served as co-producer on the final season. He has written episodes of Trial & Error (2017), Me, Myself & I (2017), A to Z (2014), Telenovela (2015) and Broke (2020), and worked as a producer on several of these series. Recent credits include writing for Bad Thoughts (2025) and Stumble (2025–2026).
