Biography
Max Nemetz was a German stage and film actor. He appeared in several silent films in the early 1920s while working at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Berlin, where he was noted for his passionate and expressive performances.
He is best known for his role as the Captain in F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu (1922). His other early film credits include Der Friedhof der Lebenden (1921), Marizza (1921) and Man by the Wayside (1923). After a period away from cinema, he returned in the 1950s with roles in films and numerous television productions, such as Rosen aus dem Süden (1954), Hexenjagd (1960) and Stadtpark (1963).
Nemetz was born in Bremen and died in Bad Herrenalb in 1971.
