Biography
Mehmet Kurtuluş is a Turkish-German actor. Born on 27 April 1972 in Uşak, Turkey, he moved to Germany at the age of 18 months and grew up in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony.
He began with theatre work and minor television roles before his breakthrough as Gabriel in Fatih Akın's Short Sharp Shock (1998). He subsequently appeared in Akın's In July (2000) as Isa and Head-On (2004) as Barmann Istanbul, which he also co-produced. Other film roles include parts in The Tunnel (2001), Naked (2002) and Big Game (2014).
On television, Kurtuluş played the lead detective Cenk Batu in six episodes of the German series Tatort (2008–2011) and later appeared in international productions such as Into the Night (2020) as Ayaz and The Protector (2018).
