Biography
Melanie Paxson is an American actress. She was born on 26 September 1972 in Champaign, Illinois, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theatre from the University of Missouri. She later trained at the Second City in Chicago and performed with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
Paxson is known for her recurring television roles in series including Cupid (1998–1999), Happy Family (2003–2004) and Notes from the Underbelly (2007–2008), as well as guest appearances in Bones, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Last Man Standing. Her film credits include Saving Mr. Banks (2013) as Dolly. She has also appeared in numerous television commercials.
She portrays the Fairy Godmother in the Descendants film series, appearing in Descendants (2015), Descendants 2 (2017), Descendants 3 (2019), Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024) and Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (2026).
