Biography
Michael Aitkens is a British writer of television drama and comedy. Born in 1947, he was educated at Haileybury and later lived in Australia for ten years and in Los Angeles for two years. He graduated from the AFI Conservatory in 1981. More than 150 of his scripts have been produced in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia.
Aitkens created and wrote the BBC sitcom Waiting for God, first broadcast in 1990 and running for five series. The series received a BAFTA nomination. He has written for numerous British series, including Class Act (1994–1995), The River and Honey for Tea.
He has been a core writer for the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders, contributing nine episodes between 2006 and 2014. Aitkens lives in London and works as a writer and producer, mainly on original series. He has also formed an independent production company, Daisylu.
