Biography
Michael Fernandez, also credited as Michael Cambio Fernandez, is an American cinematographer based in Los Angeles. He is known for his work on the documentary Daughters (2024), for which he received a nomination for the Critics' Choice Documentary Award for Best Cinematography.
Fernandez grew up in California's Delta region in the Central Valley. He holds a master's degree in history from San Jose State University and taught high school in Northern California for ten years before pursuing cinematography full time. His early feature credit was on The Burial of Kojo (2018). Other notable credits include Black Is King (2020) and the series Forever (2025).
