Biography

Michael Cavanaugh is an American actor born on 21 November 1942 in New York City. After serving three years in the United States Navy, stationed in Hawaii, he began acting in children's theatre and made his stage debut in the title role of Winnie the Pooh. His other early stage work included productions of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and musicals such as Oh! Calcutta!.

Cavanaugh made his film debut in 1976 and has appeared in more than one hundred films. He played Patrick Scarfe in Any Which Way You Can (1980), one of three Clint Eastwood films in which he appeared, alongside The Enforcer (1976) and The Gauntlet (1977). His television credits include a regular role as George Fox in the series Starman (1986–1987) and guest appearances in The X-Files, Monk, 24 and Bones.
