Biography
Michael Gahr (27 December 1939 – 25 November 2010) was a German actor and voice actor. Born in Berlin, he completed his schooling there in 1958 and trained at the Fritz-Kirchhoff acting school. He began his career in student theatre in Berlin before touring in cities including Ingolstadt, Augsburg, Hamburg and Munich.
Gahr appeared in numerous German television series, including multiple episodes of Tatort, Der Alte and Derrick. His film credits include the role of Prisoner Hoss in Werner Herzog’s Stroszek (1977), Paul Rosenberger in The Nasty Girl (1990) and supporting parts in The Odessa File (1974) and Ace of Aces (1982). He was also active as a voice artist, dubbing characters in international films such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) and Gran Torino (2008).
In 1971 he married actress Gisela Traut. Gahr received the AZ-Stern award from the Münchner Abendzeitung for his stage performance as Lennie in Of Mice and Men.
