Biography
Michael James is an American musician and composer. He is a founding member of the post-rock band Explosions in the Sky, formed in Austin, Texas, in 1999, where he plays guitar, bass and keyboards alongside Chris Hrasky, Munaf Rayani and Mark Smith.
The band has composed original scores and contributed music to several films and television projects. These include Friday Night Lights (2004), Lone Survivor (2013), Prince Avalanche (2013), Manglehorn (2015) and the Netflix miniseries American Primeval (2025).
