Biography
Michael Kurinsky is a production designer and art director in feature animation. He studied fine arts at the University of Arizona and began his career painting backgrounds for television commercials before joining Walt Disney Feature Animation.
At Disney he worked on hand-painted backgrounds for Beauty and the Beast (1991), Hercules (1997), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), Fantasia 2000 (1999) and Home on the Range (2004). After nearly ten years there he moved to Sony Pictures Animation, where he served as visual development artist on Open Season (2006), art director on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) and production designer on Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015).
In late 2017 he joined Warner Animation Group as production designer on Scoob! (2020), in which he also voiced a character. He has contributed visual development work to later films including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023).
