Biography
Mick Garris is an American director, screenwriter, producer and novelist. He was born on 4 December 1951 in Santa Monica, California.
Garris began his career in journalism and publicity before working as a writer and story editor on Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories (1985–1986), for which he received an Edgar Award. He directed his first feature, Critters 2: The Main Course, in 1988. He is known for his work in the horror genre and for several adaptations of Stephen King novels, including directing Sleepwalkers (1992), the miniseries The Stand (1994) and the miniseries The Shining (1997). He created the series Masters of Horror (2005).
Garris has also directed episodes of television series including Once Upon a Time (2011), Pretty Little Liars (2010), Ravenswood (2013) and Shadowhunters (2016). He received story and screenplay credit on Hocus Pocus (1993).
