Biography
Mickey Baker was an American musician and occasional actor. Born McHouston Baker in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1925, he moved to New York City as a teenager and became a prolific session guitarist, recording with artists including the Drifters, Ray Charles and Ruth Brown.
In the mid-1950s he formed the duo Mickey & Sylvia with Sylvia Robinson; their 1956 single 'Love Is Strange' was a major hit. Baker later moved to France, where he continued session work and recording. He appeared uncredited as a record producer in Jean-Luc Godard's Masculin Féminin (1966).
Baker died in France in 2012.
