Biography
Mieczysław Jahoda (1924–2009) was a Polish cinematographer. He studied at the State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź, graduating in 1953, and began working in feature films as an assistant camera operator in the early 1950s. His debut as director of photography was on Zimowy zmierzch (1957).
Jahoda shot numerous notable Polish films, including The Noose (1958), Knights of the Teutonic Order (1960), The Saragossa Manuscript (1965) directed by Wojciech Jerzy Has, and I Hate Mondays (1971). He was a pioneer of widescreen CinemaScope and Eastmancolor processes in Polish cinema. He also directed the 1978 musical comedy Hello, Fred the Beard and taught at the Łódź film school from 1963, becoming a professor in 1982.
