Biography
Mikhail Ivanovich Kononov (Russian: Михаил Иванович Кононов) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor. He was born in Moscow on 25 April 1940 and died there on 16 July 2007.
He graduated from the Shchepkin Drama School in 1963 and joined the Maly Theatre, where he remained until 1968. He then worked primarily in film, beginning with a role in Our Common Friend (1961). His film roles included Foma in Andrei Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev (1966), Nestor Petrovich in the television series The Long Recess (1972), and Krys in Guest from the Future (1984). He received the title of Honoured Artist of the RSFSR in 1989 and People's Artist of Russia in 1999.
