Biography
Mitch Epstein is an American production designer and photographer. He served as production designer on Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay! (1988) and Mississippi Masala (1991), and as co-producer on the latter.
Born on 23 August 1952 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Epstein trained at the Cooper Union and Rhode Island School of Design. He worked on several of Nair’s early projects in India, including as cinematographer on the documentary India Cabaret (1985). He was married to Nair from 1981 to 1989.
