Biography
Mohamed Iguerbouchène (also credited as Mohamed Ygerbuchen and Mohammed Igarbouchen) was an Algerian composer. He was born on 13 November 1907 in Aït Ouchène, Algeria, and died on 21 August 1966 in Algeria.
In the early 1930s he composed music for Algerian documentaries and the short film Dzair. Julien Duvivier invited him to collaborate with Vincent Scotto on the score for the 1937 film Pépé le Moko, on which he was credited as Mohamed Ygerbuchen. His music was reused for the 1938 Hollywood remake Algiers, credited as Mohammed Igarbouchen. He was admitted to SACEM and SACD in 1934 and later worked with Algerian Radio and the Algiers Opera Orchestra after returning to Algeria in 1957.
