Biography

Moni Moshonov, also credited as Shlomo Moshonov, is an Israeli actor, comedian and theatre director. He was born on 18 August 1951 in Ramla, Israel, to a Bulgarian Jewish family. After military service in an Israel Defense Forces entertainment troupe and studying drama at Tel Aviv University, he joined the Haifa Theater for five years.

Moshonov began his film career in 1977 with Masa Alunkot. He is known for roles in Every Time We Say Goodbye (1986), Late Marriage (2001), for which he received an Ophir Award, We Own the Night (2007), Two Lovers (2008), A Tale of Love and Darkness (2015) and The Spy (2019) as Jacob Shimoni. He has appeared extensively in Israeli theatre, including at the Cameri and Habima theaters, and co-hosted the long-running satirical television series Zehu Ze! (1978–1998).

He has been married to actress Sandra Sade since 1977 and is the father of opera singer Alma Moshonov and actor Michael Moshonov.
