Biography
Morgan Woodward (1925–2019) was an American actor. He studied at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas at Arlington, and served in the US Army Air Forces and Air Force during the Second World War and Korean War before beginning his screen career in the mid-1950s.
He played Boss Godfrey in Cool Hand Luke (1967) and The Boss in The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976). Woodward was a frequent guest star in Western series and holds the record for the most appearances by any actor on Gunsmoke, with 19 episodes. He had a recurring role as Shotgun Gibbs in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp and appeared as Marvin “Punk” Anderson in 55 episodes of Dallas.
